So after over 11 years of marriage, my husband and I set out on an endeavor to sell the city house and move to the country. I’m a country girl myself, but married a city boy from uptown New Orleans. Fortunately, I only dragged him across Lake Pontchatrain.
Since we started telling people about our plans last fall, friends and family have had a variety of responses ranging from “that’s so great” to “you two will be back across the lake in 5 years”. Personally, I have wanted this most of my adult life. The bonus? I get to have my horse in our backyard! I grew up in Pony Club in suburban Connecticut and “horse fever” never left my system. I’ve pretty much spent the last 40+ years wishing and hoping this day would come.
As a former boss once told me, “a goal without a plan is just a dream”. Thank you Debbie, this has been something I have told myself time and again to keep me going.
While we have just purchased this great house on 5 acres, we still need to work. Hence the blog name, The Corporate Homesteaders. Maybe one day we will quit those corporate jobs, but until then, we still have to work outside our home to pay for the country house.
more to come in many many blog posts and I hope you will enjoy our antics at the farm!
